About Me

Rope Halters - JayaMae GregoryI started using rope halters on my horse after my mother introduced to me to natural horsemanship. I immediately found rope halters to be a better communication tool for me and my horse, and discovered I could throw the bridle away and ride simply with a rope halter and lead line. However, after purchasing my first rope halter, I discovered it was too big for my horse. The subsequent rope halter I purchased was too small, so I measured my horse’s face and decided to make my own, so it’d be sure to fit! Ever since then, I’ve been tying custom rope halters, not only for my own horse, but for other horses as well.

I have been horseback riding since the age of 5, when my mother took me for my first lesson. As a child, I rode on the East Coast, in New England, as a hunter-jumper rider. When I graduated high school, I began teaching beginner lessons at a barn in Anaheim Hills, California, in order to earn free lessons for myself.

I have trained with Brian Bodarke of Brookhaven Farm in Chico, California. Currently, I am working with David Lichman, a licensed 5-star Parelli Natural Horsemanship instructor, who specializes in gaited horses. I am also taking private lessons with Sheri Balken of Paradise, CA. Both David and Sheri utilize rope halters in their training.

I do not consider myself a teacher or a trainer, although I am often referred to as such. I have a hunger for knowledge and find out every day that I am just who I want to be – a student. My passion is simply to share and pass on my love for horses and my love of art. I am dedicated to helping you improve your relationship with your horse and discover the ease and simplicity of using rope halters as a natural tool for communication.
